Alta Jets is a private jet charter brokerage based in Southern California, and Los Angeles is one of our busiest markets. Private jets fly out of four LA airports: Van Nuys (VNY), Hollywood Burbank (BUR), the private terminals at LAX, and Hawthorne (HHR). Our clients live all over the city, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Westwood, Bel Air, Brentwood, Manhattan Beach, and our job is figuring out which airport actually makes sense for your trip.

The right airport for where you live

LA is big, and the right departure airport depends on your address and your route. Van Nuys is the workhorse for most of the Westside and the Valley; Burbank often beats it for the eastside and early-morning departures; LAX’s private terminals make sense when you’re connecting or flying long-haul international. We’ll route you based on drive time, aircraft positioning, and price, not whichever ramp is convenient for us.

Don’t overlook Hawthorne (HHR). We work with a lot of hockey players and other clients who live around Manhattan Beach and the South Bay, and Hawthorne is often the smart call: great for turboprops and entry-level jets, and even some very high-performance heavy and ultra-long-range aircraft can operate out of there. It’s frequently priced competitively, too.

What LA trips run

A few of the routes we price most often for Los Angeles clients, Las Vegas from $6,000, $7,000 on a light jet, Aspen at $15,000, $20,000, Cabo San Lucas at $15,000, $25,000, and Europe typically $110,000, $130,000 one-way on a long-range heavy jet. Full route-by-route numbers are in our sample pricing guide. All ranges are one-way and pre-tax where applicable.

How booking works

Place a $500 deposit and we send you a Detailed Estimate Report: full visibility into the charter market for your trip, with estimated price ranges for each class of aircraft, from empty-leg and one-way rates up to standard rates. Once you have the report, you have 48 hours to decline for a full refund; continue and the $500 is credited toward your trip.

Fly often? Use the deposit program

Our deposit program lets you place a larger deposit and draw it down trip by trip, with empty leg deals when they fit, same-day flying with funds on file, the freedom to jump aircraft classes (a light jet one day, a super-mid the next), and dynamic pricing on every charter.

Safety, every time

Every aircraft we source operates under a Part 135 certificate or international equivalent, with vetted operators and crews, see our safety standards. We’re a small, referral-based team, and the owner is involved in every trip.

Choosing the right aircraft

Part of our job is sizing the aircraft to the mission, never over- or under-selling the trip.

  • Light jets (Citation CJ3, Phenom 300): up to about six passengers, ideal for regional hops like Las Vegas, Aspen, Cabo and the Bay Area.
  • Midsize & super-midsize jets (Citation XLS, Challenger 350, Citation X): roughly seven to nine passengers with the range for transcontinental runs to New York or Miami.
  • Heavy & ultra-long-range jets (Gulfstream G650, Global 7500): twelve to sixteen passengers and the legs for nonstop flights to Hawaii, Europe and beyond.
